Eastland Medical Systems Ltd. Eastland was incorporated in 1999 and since listing on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) in January 2002 has evolved from a ‘start up' technology company to become a vertically-integrated developer, manufacturer and distributor of safe injectable devices and other established medical products. |

Furthermore, development has been completed on two new mass vaccination devices, and a range of retractable coring needles with medical, vetinary and aquaculture applications. In 2003 EMS acquired two Australian based companies; Portland Surgical Products ( Portland ) and Medical Industries Australia (MIA). Portland has enabled EMS not only to secure the supply of high quality speciality needles required for its safe devices but also provided the organisational capabilities and physical resources to fast-track the ongoing successful commercialisation of technology. Medical Industries Australia provides EMS with an experienced, sales, marketing and distribution organisation. Over the past fourteen years MIA has seen continued profitable growth and becomes a well respected distributor to the Australian Healthcare market. MIA is responsible for marketing and distributing the EMS technology and product portfolio throughout the Australian, Asian, Japanese, Pacific and African Markets. In November 2003 Eastland Medical Systems PLC was created. This UK based company is responsible for marketing and distributing the EMS technology and product portfolio throughout the European, American and Middle Eastern Markets. |

Eastland Medical Systems SA Pty Ltd (“EMSSA”) was incorporated as a South African Corporation, in November 2004 for the purpose of acquiring the South African needleand syringe manufacturer, patents and intellectual property that cover a range of products that utilize new technology for injection, infusion and blood drawing devices, designed to protect health care workers from needlestick injury for the territories of Sub-Saharan Africa. |

Portland Surgical Products (Pty) Ltd. Portland Surgical Products (Pty) Ltd is a proprietary limited company currently involved in the manufacture of specialty needles, surgical products and a wide range of Research and Development programs. Portland Surgical Products (Pty) Ltd has a lateral but very effective management organisation comprising around 15 long serving full time and part time employees. In addition PSP has a highly developed and effective network of consultants who are used on a project by project basis. |

Portland has also developed a line of thoracic and wound drainage systems, which it has continued to enhance over the years. One of these, the Thora Valve, is a positive relief safety valve incorporated in the Portland Chest Drainage System. In Australia and New Zealand , this product is sold under the brand name of Tyco. There is a substantial market for this product and is secured by patents in most countries. Portland has also developed a range of Veterinary products that have considerable market potential throughout the world. Portland holds a license for the manufacture of sterile therapeutic devices covering the listings of hypodermic needle manufacture, sterile tubes and tubing, drainage devices and breathing circuits and filters. Portland Surgical Products provides Australian and overseas hospitals and medical/veterinary suppliers with reliable medical products and Portland leads the market with modern research and development. |

Founded in 1982, Medical Industries Australia (MIA) is a significant independent importer, distributor and supplier of medical, therapeutic and allied products. |
